SECRETARY OF STATE POLICE
The Secretary of State Department of Police enforces the statutes and administrative codes administered by the Office of the Illinois Secretary of State.
Founded in 1913, it is the oldest statewide law enforcement agency in Illinois and specializes in auto theft investigations, vehicle-related consumer fraud, and protecting the integrity of all documents issued by the Office of the Secretary of State. In addition to enforcing Illinois Vehicle Code, the Secretary of State Police is also responsible for providing protective services to the State Capitol Complex and Secretary of State facilities, identifying and disposing of hazardous explosive devices and chemicals, and promoting traffic safety.
